Description
SpaceX, founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, is a private aerospace company that designs and launches rockets and spacecraft. Its long-term mission is to enable human settlement on Mars. SpaceX has raised around US$9 billion to date, with key rounds including US$1 billion from Google and Fidelity in 2015, US$1.9 billion in 2020, and US$750 million in 2023. The company’s valuation has increased significantly, reaching US$137 billion in 2023. Investors include Founders Fund, Sequoia Capital, and Baillie Gifford. SpaceX’s primary projects include the Starship rocket and Starlink internet constellation. It remains privately held and led by Musk, with competitors such as Blue Origin and United Launch Alliance.
