The problem
Hunger is on the rise globally and undernutrition affects millions of children, including 1 in 7 kids in the United States. Experiencing hunger often contributes to many other problems, especially in the areas of health and education. While there is plenty of food for no one to go hungry, access to food (especially healthy food) remains unequal. Contributing to the problem is the decline of global public investment in agriculture, including for smallscale food producers and rural family farmers. Corporations play a central role in fighting hunger, including through decisions in the food value chain (such as involvement of local food producers and smallscale farmers), development of technologies that make agricultural land more productive, sustainable use of land resources that avoids land degradation (and preserves land for agricultural and other uses), charitable giving to hunger organizations, and contribution to economic development and productive employment
