Why do you use 1-7 scales in the Impact Assessment?

When a client or lead takes your Impact Assessment, they rate from 1 (low) to 7 (high) the importance of various causes to them.

We use 1-7 scales to allow for a middle or neutral point (4), and because it tends to be easer than a 1-10 scale.

We often hear that clients or leads want to set everything as 7 (the highest importance). Setting everything as 7 (or any equal number) is completely OK. This just means that the client's personalized ratings will be equally-weighted across the client's causes.

When talking about the assessment with a client or lead, it can be helpful to explain that the 1-7 scales are simply a way to prioritize what's most important to them. All factors are important, but rating them relative to each other helps ensure that they're invested in companies and funds that best match what they care about.
