The problem
At least half the global population does not have access to essential health services. Many who do have access suffer undue financial hardship to receive care, sometimes pushing them into poverty. Access to affordable pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices also varies significantly by country. Companies have a key role to play in expanding affordable access to healthcare, as participants along the healthcare value chain (including drug and device manufacturers, providers, insurers, technology innovators and others), through the healthcare benefits offered employees, and through impact on growing the global economy (which allows more people to access and pay for healthcare)
